Blueprint of Authoritarianism
Mussolini’s Fascism, Hitler’s Nazism, and Trumpism's Project 2025
Authoritarian Blueprints: From Theory to Practice in Los Angeles
How three historical frameworks reveal the pattern behind current events
Authoritarianism rarely announces itself. Instead, it emerges wrapped in promises of renewal, moral clarity, and national greatness. While it takes different forms across eras, its fundamental blueprint remains constant: concentrate power, eliminate dissent, and rewrite the purpose of the state.
This analysis examines three ideological frameworks that follow this arc and shows how theory has become practice on the streets of Los Angeles in June 2025.
Three Historical Frameworks
1. Mussolini's Doctrine of Fascism (1932)
Benito Mussolini's contribution to authoritarian ideology, co-written with philosopher Giovanni Gentile, declared the State as the supreme moral force and individual freedom as secondary even dangerous if it challenges the collective.
Core Elements:
Central Belief: The individual exists only in relation to the State
System Design: Corporatism where labor, business, and government fuse under state control
Tools of Control: Cultural propaganda, elimination of dissent, glorification of struggle
Endgame: A militarized society in permanent motion, led by one ideology and one man
"Fascism denies that the majority can direct human society." — The Doctrine of Fascism
Key Question: If the State becomes your conscience, your voice, and your identity, who are you without it?
2. Hitler's Mein Kampf (1925-26)
Hitler's manifesto laid out the ideological backbone of Nazism, fusing historical grievance, pseudo-science, and personal mythology into a call for total state and racial control.
Core Elements:
Central Belief: The Aryan race is destined to rule; others must be subjugated or eliminated
System Design: Führerprinzip, absolute leadership without accountability
Tools of Control: Propaganda, education reform, paramilitary enforcement (SA/SS)
Endgame: A racially pure Reich, purged of dissent and diversity
"The broad masses of a population are more amenable to the appeal of rhetoric than to any other force." — Mein Kampf
Key Question: When hate is given the power of law, history becomes a weapon and facts, a casualty.
3. Project 2025 - Heritage Foundation (2023)
In the modern United States, Project 2025 functions as a comprehensive strategy to rebuild the federal government around a strong, ideologically aligned executive. Its goal is not merely policy change, but systemic overhaul.
Core Elements:
Central Belief: America requires restoration through the power of an unconstrained presidency
System Design: Dismantling the "deep state" through executive control of civil service (Unitary Executive Theory)
Tools of Control: Executive orders, agency purges, rewriting legal interpretations, deploying military for domestic law enforcement
Endgame: A legally fortified presidency, unencumbered by oversight, enforcing its doctrine across all branches of public life
"This is not just a transition plan. This is a battle plan." — Project 2025 introduction
Key Question: If one ideology controls the bureaucracy, justice system, and military can democracy survive, even if elections continue?
From Blueprint to Reality: Los Angeles, June 2025
The theoretical discussions of Project 2025 are no longer theoretical. In Los Angeles, we are witnessing its "battle plan" deployed in real time.
The Timeline of Events
June 7, 2025: ICE officers carried out raids Friday in three locations across Los Angeles, where dozens of people were taken into custody
June 8-9, 2025: Protests erupted in response to the immigration raids. California National Guard troops were deployed to the streets of Los Angeles on Sunday to help quell a third day of protests over President Donald Trump's immigration enforcement
June 9-10, 2025: The military presence escalated dramatically. Trump deployed 4,000 National Guardsmen and 700 Marines to LA against the wishes of Newsom and Bass
The Federal Response
Military Deployment: About 700 Marines were in a staging area in the Seal Beach area about 30 miles (50 km) south of Los Angeles, awaiting deployment to specific locations, while there were 2,100 National Guard troops in the Los Angeles area on Tuesday, more than half the 4,000 authorized.
Justification: President Trump has inflamed tensions over immigration raids in Los Angeles, which his top adviser Stephen Miller described as an insurrection
Federal Override: President Trump ordered California National Guard troops to Los Angeles to quell anti-immigration enforcement protests, demonstrating the extraordinary presidential powers to deploy military forces domestically.
State and Local Opposition
California's Response: Newsom sued the Trump administration, saying they unlawfully "trampled over" California's sovereignty when they federalized the California National Guard
Los Angeles Mayor's Concerns: Mayor Karen Bass said the city is being "used for an experiment" by the federal government as they bring in military forces, and a "test case" for taking power away from local authorities
The Connection to Project 2025
This deployment represents the Unitary Executive Theory in action, the willingness to use military force to enforce federal policy over the objections of elected state leaders, effectively dissolving traditional barriers between federal and state power, and between military and civilian life.
The administration has recast political dissent as a threat to national security, using language that echoes the legal justifications outlined in Project 2025 for invoking emergency powers.
Patterns That Repeat Across History
Despite differences in time, context, and language, all three blueprints—and their current implementation—share striking similarities:
The Critical Question
When a society is told it needs to be saved by one man, one party, or one belief system, it should ask: from whom, and at what cost?
The events unfolding in Los Angeles provide a stark answer. US soldiers continue to patrol federal sites in Los Angeles, marking a historic moment when theoretical frameworks of authoritarian power have become operational reality on American streets.
The line crossed: When a government uses its military against its own citizens on domestic soil, the boundary between democratic governance and authoritarian control has been breached.
The details may differ across history, but the template remains disturbingly familiar. The question for Americans today is whether they recognize the pattern and what they choose to do about it.
